Sights in Yangshuo : Yangshuo and
Dali are known as THE cities in China where backpackers can come and rest and just have a relaxing time. Yangshuo is very touristy with a few streets full of terraces, pubs, restaurants, and cheap guest houses. An authentic Chinese village you will not find in Yangshuo but the village is nice, cheap accommodation and very nice surroundings. Around Yangshuo beautiful karsts rocks, rivers, waterfalls and little villages can easily be visited by rented bicycles, rickshaw, boat rides or by foot. The locals are extremely business minded and have completely adapted to the wishes of the tourists to create a real backpackers paradise. A few of the rocks are climbable. the conclusion is if you are longing for western music, relaxing atmosphere, western food and some good stories from fellow travelers go to Yangshuo.

Budget hotels in Yangshuo : there is an enormous choice of hotels,. Immediately in the bus station you get met by people wanting to show you their hotel -the best one of course! We stayed in Fawlty Towers Hotel, 40 Yuan for a double room without air conditioning, clean but nothing especial.
Travel by public transport from Yangshuo to Hong Kong : there are several companies that organizes trips from Yangshuo to Shenzen (the border town of Hong Kong on the Chinese side). All busses leave around 19:00 from Guilin and passes at about 20:00 in Yangshuo to pick up extra passengers. Tickets for the trip can be purchased in Yangshuo, but count on that the prices are high. In the touristy West street in the centre of Yangshuo all the ticket agencies asked 180-200 Yuan for a ticket to Hong Kong, while we in our hotel Fawlty Towers only had to pay 130 Yuan. The Bus arrives around 9.30 in the morning in the bus station of Shenzen from where you can get the local bus numbers 473 to the border with Hong Kong. The hotels are cheaper in Shenzen than the once in Hong Kong but there is nothing to see.
